BUYER’S FAVE! A very rare, 1930's antique Beni Ouarain rug. Currently the oldest piece we currently have listed in our vintage Beni Ouarain rug collection.

Handwoven by Berber tribeswomen from very high quality, undyed, natural sheep’s wool. This rug is thick and heavy but not shaggy. It would have originally been made for the weaver’s own domestic use. Its tightly woven pattern – in natural dark brown wool – features an intricate, repeat pattern of small diamonds, wavy zigzags and larger diamonds. Some of the larger diamonds contain orange flecks, the use of colour is highly unusual for pieces of this era.

Such fine antique Beni Ouarains are absolutely stunning and almost impossible to acquire. A genuine collector's piece.

The rug is in excellent condition for its age. There is some minor wear to the tasseled ends, which is to be expected with such an old piece and adds to its charm and integrity.
